The project was conceived when our clients, a family of four, found their perfect piece of land situated within a 5-minute walk to the ocean and encompassing views over the A-Class conservation area of Star Swamp Bushland Reserve in North Beach, Western Australia.
Upon engaging Suzanne Hunt Architect, the brief was to design an environmentally sustainable, passive designed home with warmth & character, a sophisticated design that would remain authentic to its people and its place.
Set over three levels on a corner site, the home showcases a variety of outstanding features including Rammed Earth Walls, reverse brick veneer construction for optimal energy efficiency, Spotted Gum natural timber cladding and a Geothermal heating and cooling system.
The spacious garage, carved out of the site’s natural limestone geology anchors the home and preserves the refined streetscape. Generous open plan living areas and a double storey void bring a sense of community and connection to those sharing this four-bedroom, four-bathroom masterpiece.
The sweeping curved roof plane crowns the home while its sculptural form softens the linear volumes below. Designed to capture natural light and coastal breezes, the flowing roofline reinforces the homes relaxed coastal character and its position as a landmark residence.
