This home has an abundance of light and was designed to incorporate a high level of passive environmental sustainability design initiatives, including maximised cross-ventilation and mass wall construction to east and west elevations.

The design is a contemporary two-storey, three-bedroom family home, on half of their 450sqm Cottesloe block. The design is environmentally sustainable, with maximised cross ventilation from large sliding and bi-fold doors, and mass wall construction to the east and west elevations. Other smart design points include solar power panels, which feed excess energy back into the grid; rainwater harvesting and underground water storage; and top end appliances and lighting. The planning arrangement comprises two distinct sections: the entry and bedroom; and the living, entertaining and outdoor spaces. The two sections are linked by a generous gallery, which opens on to a private courtyard by means of a dramatic fully glazed double storey window wall.

A visual link between the sections is the beautiful 7.5m by 30m rammed earth wall, which runs through the gallery and into the two sections of the home. The rammed earth wall also creates feature walls throughout the home and offers contrasting textures. The home is bathed in natural light thanks to the open style of the home, with the rear of the block capturing the northern light. Elegant sheoak timber treads combine with glacier white Corian benchtops, Pietra Grigio stone tops and Isernia stone flooring to create a sense of calm spaciousness throughout the home.

Wandoo timber decking is used in the internal courtyard, and Alpolic cladding is used throughout. Stainless steel wire balustrades finish the contemporary look of the home. The result is an understated luxury home that has been finished to the highest standard.
